What is RASTATS?
───────────────────
RAStats is quite simply an information utility for RemoteAccess 1.10 Sysops.
It can be run on all IBM compatible DOS computers with RemoteAccess installed.
It's a program that tell's the sysop everything he needs to know about the
status of his system and todays activity without ever logging on the system.
RAStats works in a DESQview window and can be run while a user is online.
The environment RAStats uses is the same as the new RACONFIG, FD Setup and
RACE have, and should therefore be quite plain to most sysops. RAStats is a
program that I have spent quite a lot of time on and therefore becomes the
first of my programs to become shareware - NOT freeware like my previous
programs. The registration of RAStats is not expensive - 10 pounds, BUT the
bonus you get is that the key you will receive for RAStats will also work with
another of my programs LAST, that is a sort of 'Todays callers' util but also
includes FrontDoor mail calls and a database of callers for the last days
(configurable). So if you register one of those programs for 10 pounds you
get the other free... or sort of :-) The registration form is included with
this archive. Please note that neither RAStats nor LAST are crippled in any
way if they are run un-registered. The only difference between RAStats and
LAST in registered and un-registered mode is that you get rid of the
[UNREGISTERED] sign in the programs. The key file you will get when you
register the programs is not very hard to crack. If you are not willing to
register RAStats then it's up to you - I am releasing this as a shareware as I
think I can trust you to register if you think the program is worth it.
About RASTATS.

I've never been much of a doc writer - I dislike long docs and almost never
read them. RASTATS has small online help in the same fashion as RACONFIG - a
line in the bottom of the screen that tells you what each option can do.
Here is a short summary of the options in RAStats:
ABOUT
SYSTEM
* This is an information screen that show's lot's of statistics about the BBS.
MESSAGE BASE
Scan Mailbox - Scan all areas for unread mail and then scan for
mail to Sysop.
* Please note: This sometimes takes a while, depending on the size of your
message base. The mail scan works in the same way as in XRSDOOR, all
messages found higher than the highread message are scanned, the LASTREAD
pointers are not used. This should not matter and the scan should be a
bit faster. Sysop is by default the first name in the user file.
Area Setup - View Message area setup.
ACTIVITY
Todays Callers - List all callers on System today.
Mailer Calls [FD] - FidoNet mail calls information.
FrontDoor systems only.
* Please note: This feature is only enabled if FrontDoor mailer system is
detected.
System Usage - List hourly system usage.
FILE BASE
Online files - View FILES.BBS in all areas setup in RACONFIG.
Area Setup - View file area setup.
USER BASE
View Userfile - View the userfile.
New Users - View settings for new users.
QUIT
PROBLEMS...
───────────────────
RASTATS was successfully tested on several machines from 8Mhz XT's with 640Kb
up to 33Mhz 486's using Desqview 2.40/QEMM 6.00. However it has one slight
'feature' that might cause you problems... It loves your memory!! It eats it
and never get's enough. To tell the truth RAStats needs 200K of your precious
memory.
No matter how hard I try, I can't get it to run properly with less memory.
This is only likely to cause problems when RAStats is run in a DESQview
window on machines that have less that 1 meg of memory and are already
running RA in another window. But I'll try to fix this in the next version.
Please report any problems/bugs to the address at the end of the doc file via
netmail or post a message to me in RA_UTIL echomail conference.

I would like to thank John Barton of RemoteAccess Support Europe HQ, for
endless bug hunting. This man can find bugs everywhere - and does it fast :-)
Barry Phillips, Compass!! BBS, Mark Kerr, YUKON HO! and Ruud de Bruin,
The Triplets for suggestions and bug tracking and Johann Sigurdsson, Colosseum
BBS for suggestions/help on the early stages of RAStats. I would also
like to thank Andrew Milner and Joaquim H. Homrighausen for help and
information so I could get the structures of the program right.
